That Witch

It's been awhile since I've posted. Things got crazy with the rehearsals, set building, getting sick and making a costume for Serenity for Halloween (she wanted to be a girl Goku). I've just been so tired and too lazy to pull out the laptop to write something up. But I downloaded this app so I can blog from my phone! So worth it.
After a full week of being sick I'm finally getting back to my routine, walking in the morning, working on set and exercising. I downloaded a free app that focuses on womens fitness and I lost 2 pounds in 4 workouts! And then kept it off and lost 2 more while sick! And I wasn't sick to my stomach so it's not from vomiting.
So tonight I decided to do a self care/ beauty ritual to freshen me up for the week to come. Now, the word ritual might sound a little weird. I used to call it my routine, but I hate that word. I hate routine, it feels so stagnant and boring. Since this past spring I've been dabbling with the idea of being a witch. Not legit witchcraft or wiccan. Mainly believing in the power of myself and being connected with the universe. I've always been sensitive to energies and the supernatural. There's magic in all of us and the world around us.
Discovering this about myself I've decided to embrace my feminine, spiritual power and do the things that feel right. I love lighting candles and taking baths while listening to some music. I started adding in essential bath oils, a new lotion for after shaving my legs and vitamin E oil for stretch marks. I'll even use bubble bath.
I made it a ritual. Run the bath with the oils and such in it. Light the candles, turn of the lights and put on music (usually Florence and the Machine since her music really speaks to me). I soak, focus on my breathing, releasing tension and my body. I start to feel sensual and powerful. I take my time washing my hair and body, not letting my mind wander but feeling everything. Eventually, when I feel it's time, and usually when many of the bubbles are gone, I'll empty the tub and take my time shaving. When I'm finished I dry off, lotion my legs, rub vitamin E on my stretch Mark's with the candles and music still on. Once I feel refreshed and relaxed I turn off the music, then blow out the candles last, kind of a closing to the whole thing.
I try to do this once a week, usually the weekend. It's good for me. Makes me feel clean, strong and sexy. I feel I could conquer the world and be myself. It's become kind of ritual for me, which of course feels much more mystical and energizing than routine.
I encourage you to find rituals that help you. Whether they help you relax, feel sexy, give you confidence, whatever you need. You don't have to say you're a witch or look into it, just do what feels right and that you enjoy. It's important to take these times and do these things for yourself.
